It is located on the southern edge of Fayoum and dates back to the late era, but it grew and flourished in the Greco-Roman era. A large temple for the god Sobek was found there from the beginning of the Ptolemaic era. A large number of Demotic and Greek papyri were found there, revealing the economic situation of this region, especially during the first century AD.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It is located 30 km southwest of Fayoum, near the village of Qasr al-Basil. It was on the shore of the ancient Lake Maurice (Qarun). It had a temple during the 12th Dynasty and flourished in the Greek era. It includes the ruins of the Roman temple and city of Umm al-Brigat.
